Overview
Pathology Department was established in 1987 in parallel with the foundation of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University. At this time, Pathology Department had one professor, Prof. Dr. Abdel-moneim El-meligy Aboel-Roos, in addition to four assistant lecturers, Dr. Hamdy Abdel-wahab Feiteh, Dr. Ahmed Shoieb, Dr. Mahmoud Mohamed El-hammamy, Dr. Salah Moselhy Aly and one teaching assistant, Dr. Amina Ali Dessouki. After that, other teaching assistants were appointed until the teaching staff reached 13 members, as well as one assistant lecturer and two teaching assistants.
Mission
The Department of Pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine SCU is committed to presenting an outstanding educational program for teaching and diagnosis of animal diseases to have professional veterinarians and researchers for promoting animal, avian, and fish productivity, in addition to ensuring public health and food safety.
Vision
The Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University aspires to be recognized as one of the top schools of Veterinary Pathology in Egypt and worldwide for preparing pre-graduate and graduate students to be highly qualified and highly motivated in diseases diagnosis, research, and fruitful interaction with the community.
Goals
- To offer a high-quality course, in which students are stimulated to challenge, accepted experience in the field of pathology.
- To offer graduates the capability for life-long learning skills.
- To offer graduates the capability to apply research concepts and technologies in the field of pathology, and to find practical solutions for community problems.
- To offer graduates the proper evaluation capacity, and the ability to apply the ethical and legal frame of the medical practice-code.
- To provide graduates with satisfactory interpersonal and communication skills confirming the sensitive role of the veterinarian in society and disseminating the awareness of maintaining animal and human health.
- To prepare graduates for careers in the field of pathology
- To acquire knowledge and understanding of various causes of animal diseases, their pathogenesis, macroscopic and microscopic pathological lesions (viral, parasitic, and protozoa diseases), and laboratory diagnosis.
