Overview
Our department is considered one of the recently founded departments in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, at Suez Canal University. The department combines four specializations which are: Vital statics- Genetics and genetic engineering- Animal production- Veterinary economics and farm management.
Mission
Our department aims to prepare a qualified veterinarian, able to take advantage of the scientific foundations and modern techniques, to establish and manage animal production farms and investigate the problems facing livestock and poultry production in Egypt. The department aims to find appropriate solutions by using the techniques of genetic engineering and biostatistics to develop livestock and poultry production with the aim of achieving sustainability in accordance with the "Egypt 2030 vision".
Vision
We are targeting to achieve leadership and excellence in education and research in the field of Animal Sciences including Animal Production, Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Veterinary Economics, farm management, and Biostatistics at the local and regional levels.
Goals
The department of “Animal Wealth Development” aims to:
- Continuous development of department’s programs and courses to achieve the best scientific and research performance and improve the level of graduates.
- Continuous development of research in the field of animal wealth development with the aim of community service and environmental development.
- Developing the methods that contribute to the educational and research process.
- Creating joint educational programs between the department and the rest of the faculty departments to improve the quality of the faculty graduates.
- Developing students' cognitive, intellectual, and practical abilities and skills in various fields of animal wealth development.
- Supplying the labor market with a distinguished graduate who is equipped with modern scientific and professional skills that enable him to compete in the local and regional markets.
- Providing scientific and technical expertise and advice to animal production stakeholders to serve the environment and society.
- Applying modern genetic techniques to help with solving the problems of genetic diseases that hinder the development of animal wealth in Egypt.
- Conducting field research and studies and making research projects that contribute to developing and solving animal production problems.
- Qualifying distinguished scientific cadres for masters and doctoral degrees in the branches of animal production, genetics and genetic engineering, biostatistics, and veterinary economics and farm management.
- Continuous development of the department's educational programs, scientific cooperation with various parties and universities in Egypt and abroad, and conducting research in accordance with the policy of the faculty and the university.
- Holding conferences, seminars, workshops, and training courses to serve the fields of animal wealth development and its workers.
- Cooperating with the extension sectors to transfer the recent research results to be applied in the productive sectors.
