Overview
Clinical pathology is a medical specialty that is concerned with the diagnosis of disease based on the laboratory analysis of bodily fluids, such as blood, urine, and tissue homogenates or extracts using the tools of chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and molecular pathology. Clinical pathology covers many laboratory functions. It is concerned with disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Clinical pathologists are healthcare providers with special training. They often direct all of the special divisions of the laboratory. This may include the following:
- Blood bank
- Clinical chemistry and biology
- Toxicology
- Hematology
- Immunology and serology
- Microbiology
The clinical Pathology Department occupies the 2nd floor in the Abd-Elhamid Shalaby building. It is considered the backbone of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine hospital that serves Ismailia, Suez, Port said governorates. The department also carries out much of the post-graduate scientific research for master's and doctorate researchers.
Mission
The Department of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University offers an educational program developed for undergraduates and graduates to participate in the preparation of veterinarians and researchers with a distinct level of professional and research and technological high meets the requirements of the labor market in the field of clinical pathology for the development of livestock, fisheries and poultry, public health, and food safety.
Vision
Department of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University seeks to be leading local sections and have the ability to achieve honorable competing levels, excellence, and continuous development in veterinary diagnostic and analysis, scientific research, and community service.
Goals
- To participate in preparing a highly qualified veterinarian, can deal with various problems in the field concerning humans and animals alike.
- Teaching the senior student's decision Article Clinical Pathology.
- To contribute to preparing technical scientific cadres, able to:
a-Identify accurate diagnosis of diseases through proper analysis.
b-Differentiate between similar diseases in symptoms and through differential diagnostic tests.
c- Gain the use of tests and skills to get to the proper diagnosis.
To be aware of the importance of medical tests in diagnosis and treatment.
