Zoonoses Department
The department combines Animal, poultry and environmental hygiene laboratory that was constructed in 1987. The laboratory is equipped with facilities to measure a wide range of environmental parameters in ambient water and waste water including physiochemical and bacteriological parameters, ambient air quality, and soil.
Commonly conducted water quality tests:
Physiochemical parameters:
• Temperature testing
• PH testing
• Dissolved oxygen test
• Salinity, electrical conductivity and TDS testing
• Chloride testing
• Hardness (total, Ca and Mg), Alkalinity
• Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate (colorimetric)
• Total Phosphate (colorimetric)
• Sulphate (colorimetric)
Microbiological examination:
• Total bacteria count
• Total Enterobacteriaceae
