Overview
Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Radiology was established in 1986; along with other departments of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, at Suez Canal University.
The department is responsible for teaching anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, and general surgery for the 4th-year student and special surgery and lameness (surgery of limbs and hoof) for 5th-year students. The department also offers Postgraduate degrees for graduate students.
It provides diplomas in veterinary science as well. The department is providing clinical services for educating veterinary hospitals as well as field training a program aiming at sharing in the development of community services. The department currently has 8 academic staff members, in addition to several research being prepared by a staff member, the research is expected to improve the teaching and clinical aspect of both animals and humans.
Mission
Our mission is to provide students and post-graduates with the scientific knowledge and practical foundation in surgery, anesthesiology, and diagnostic imaging as well as to provide updated research for improving teaching and practical tools in addition to positively share in community services, development via educating veterinary hospital and field training programs.
Vision
The vision of our department is to be a continuous learning center for both students and post-graduate in surgery, anesthesiology, and diagnostic imaging as well as to be an expert house in experimental surgery for researchers from colleagues in the medical sector.
Goals
- To support the practice in veterinary Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Diagnostic imaging.
- To promote the advancement of study, practice, and research in veterinary Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Diagnostic imaging.
- To liaise with the relevant departments in other veterinary colleges as well as colleges of the medical sector.
- To foster professional relations with veterinary surgeons in the local community.
