Overview
The establishment of this zoonoses major in the department of Animal Hygiene, Zoonoses, and Animal behavior and management was in 1986 with the beginning of the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University.
Mission
Zoonoses major seeks to graduate high caliber in understanding the epidemiology of zoonoses, diagnosis of zoonoses, and education of people for the risk of infection and the measures for control of zoonoses. Making advanced research and projects in the field of zoonoses with establishing strategies for control and prevention of zoonoses with collaboration with local and international agencies.
Vision
Zoonoses major of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University, aims to be pioneer in zoonoses and public health on the local, regional and international level based on excellence and continuous improvement in its education program, scientific research and community service.
Goals
- Preparing a highly qualified graduate:
- Equipped with knowledge about natural environments in which animals’ lives, it’s natural and abnormal behavior, and its reflection on the health (Positively- negatively).
- Trained on health interventions in environments that lack health care as to, provide health and preventive care for different animals.
- Aware of all diseases determinants in different environments and their interaction with disease’ occurrence.
- Fulfilled with a background about epidemiology of zoonotic diseases.
- Aware with methods of dealing and diagnosing those diseases with the aim of raising animal’s health and productivity efficiency in an economic matter.
- How to spread awareness and prevent those diseases among society’s members.
- Students/ participation in Faculty’s and University conferences, research, and advanced projects related to the field of animal health, management, and zoonoses.
- Creating strategies to raise awareness, combating those diseases, and prevent their occurrence in cooperation with local and international bodies.
