Overview
The department was established in 1986 under the name of the Department of Anatomy and Histology. It was the first department in the faculty under the presidency of Dr. Abdel Hamid Kamel in histology and Dr. Thana Mukhtar Al-Nahla and Dr. Saber Muhammad Shukri as representatives of anatomy and embryology. Later, the department was separated into the Cytology and Histology Department in 1991.
Since its inception, the department has been interested in self-reliance on teaching the relationship between the histological structure of cells and tissues and its vital function by preparing all types of tissues in the department which gives each student the full opportunity to obtain a set of microscopic slides.
Mission
The department aims to provide distinguished educational services using the latest scientific methods for undergraduate and graduate students and to carry out innovative applied research for community service and environmental development.
Vision
The department´s vision focuses on providing electronic educational services, raising technical skills for undergraduate and graduate students, and conducting innovative applied research in communication with other scientific departments to serve society and the surrounding environment.
